Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is a primary care provider necessary for me to be healthy?

At Advanced Optimal Healthcare, we aim to provide more than just a once-a-year well check up or annual physical. Even if you or your child is healthy, we strive to keep you that way by providing a wellness plan which revolves around exercise, nutrition, and overall well-being. Our incentive is investing in your health with preventative actions so we can anticipate changes in your health before they happen. At times events will occur that will require us to take action quickly and we want you to have a provider who is only a call away that you know, like and trust. As a member of our practice you will have the peace of mind that should for when a problem arises; we are here for you!

  • Are you accepting new patients to the practice?

Yes, we are currently accepting new patients in our practice. Once our practice reaches capacity, families, individuals and employers will be placed on a wait-list and notified when a spot becomes available.

  • Do you take insurance?

Members of Advanced Optimal Healthcare can use their insurance for everything we can order as your primary care provider; labs, medications, diagnostics and specialist appointments. Your insurance will not cover your membership but there is significant value for being a part of our practice as we save our members thousands of dollars each year by not having to pay into their deductible or to cover copays. Your membership may be HSA eligible.

  • How do I join the practice?

Dr. Ortiz, will personally speak to you, your family or any stakeholders in your business prior to signing up. This complimentary meet and greet provides an opportunity for everyone involved to determine next best steps and to answer all of your important questions.

  • How do I pay membership?

Membership fees are charged to your bank account or credit card on a monthly basis

  • Can membership be cancelled?

Yes, membership can be cancelled at any time provided a 30 day notice is given. However, a minimum initial commitment is required when first joining the practice which will be shared with you during your initial meet and greet with one of our providers. Shorter cancellation notices will be considered on a case-by-case basis for extenuating circumstances.

  • What services are not covered in the membership?

Any out-of-office procedures, labs, or medical services from other medical providers such as specialist visits and in-patient hospitalizations are also not covered in your membership and will be billed to your insurance by those providers.  All other services within our practice will be clearly outlined in your new member agreement.

  • Do I still need insurance?

While many of our members do not have insurance OR choose a high deductible catastrophic insurance plan once they join, your membership with Advanced Optimal Healthcare is not a substitute for health insurance. We have resources we would be happy to provide that will provide you with choice for what is best for yourself, your family or your business.

  • If a member is admitted to the hospital will you be able to take care of me?

Members admitted to the hospital are taken care of by inpatient hospitalists, who are experts in hospital-based care. However, our providers will work closely with the inpatient team to optimize the care you receive while hospitalized and we will arrange for a follow-up as soon as your discharge is announced.

  • What should I do if I get sick when we are out of town?

Because our approach is personalized, our providers know each of our members and your medical history very well. If needed, telemedicine or virtual care can be used and arranging a prescription or lab test can be coordinated for you.

  • What happens when you go on vacation?

We always do our best to notify members in advance of any planned absences. One of the great features of Advanced Optimal Healthcare is that when one provider is away we have another provider able and ready to cover for our patients.  This allows us to ensure that a trusted provider is available by phone, e-mail or video at all times.
